I don't usually list calories on drink reviews, but hey, this is a GIRLY drink!!! This is Mike's Hard Strawberry Lemonade, another in the ever-expanding list of girly, sugary, effeminate flavored malt liquor drinks.
Anyway, let's taste this girly thing...
Mike's Hard Strawberry Lemonade pours a translucent, light off-pink color. It smells like sugary candy, almost like Sour Patch Kids. Tasting brings flavors almost like Lemon Heads candy followed by a weird strawberry, almost like Swedish Fish. The most surprising thing about this drink is the softness of the flavors and the almost subdued sweetness for a drink of this type. Perhaps makers of girly drinks are realizing people don't like sugary drinks that are so sweet they are undrinkable. This is a good example of a more mellow sweetness, although still plenty sweet I would imagine for any girly drink lover. The lemonade flavors here are actually fairly refreshing, although I still would much prefer the original Mike's Hard Lemonade over this one, but hey, no the worst girly drink ever, but still not great. Surprisingly drinkable, though.
Drink This: if you want a refreshing, drinkable girly drink that isn't OVERLY mouth-puckeringly sweet.
Don't Drink This: if you don't like drinks on the far-end of the girly spectrum. This is not a manly man's drink. Not at all.
Cheers, my friends!
Please drink responsibly.
I have found that this is a great drink for hardcore alcoholics who aren't yet living in a dumpster and have to maintain a buzz at all times. I work at at state office (welfare) the drunks love to put these in fast food drink containers and drink them through straws while they sit in the lobby and waiting to con the welfare workers. One guy used to stash five or six cans in the mens restrooms trash bin, then go back and forth when his cup was empty or needed to piss. Steel Reserve Black Cherry, and some of the Budweiser flavored punches are popular too.
ReplyDeleteThey are also good for school lunches !
